Sometimes the best vacation memories are the ones you never planned.
Stacey and her family came to Aspen from Denver for the Fourth of July weekend, looking forward to hiking, biking, rafting, and enjoying the outdoors. Then their plans changed. Her daughter had been injured when a horse stepped on her foot, leaving her in a cast and unable to participate in many of the activities they had hoped to do.
Looking for something creative and memorable that the family could still enjoy together, Stacey found Lea Studio Art on Google and reached out to see if a private outdoor painting experience was available.

We met in a beautiful Aspen park beneath the trees. For the painting theme, I chose a brown bear, one of the memorable wildlife images people often associate with the Colorado mountains and the Aspen area.
I brought a simple bear sketch to help everyone get started, but there were no strict rules. Each person could paint the bear in their own way, using their own colors, imagination, and style.
That became the best part of the day.

Some painted colorful brown bears. One young artist decided not to follow the bear theme at all and created an abstract painting instead. That was perfectly fine. Art is not about everyone doing the same thing. It is about creativity, confidence, and self-expression.
By the end of the session, the family had more than paintings to take home. They had a memory of a beautiful afternoon in Aspen, created together during a weekend that had not gone exactly as planned.
What began as a change in vacation plans became a meaningful family experience.

That is what I love about teaching private art experiences. People may come for a painting class, but they often leave with something much more personal: laughter, connection, confidence, and a memory they created themselves.
